Acknowledgment of country

Polyglot acknowledges that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are the Traditional Custodians of the lands on which we live and create, and we pay our respects to Elders past and present. For more than 65,000 years, children and families have created and played here, and we are grateful to make our art on this country too.

Pram People at Freedom Festival (UK)

A celebration of community, Pram People rolls out the red carpet for every pram, big or small.

Directed by voices through a pair of headphones, secret messages, and other participants, pram users will come together to create a hilarious, serious and surprisingly moving performance. The immersive and colourful spectacle will bring Trinity Square to life, as the pram reclaims its place in public space and society.

If you’d like to be a part of the performance with your little one in their pram, book in advance via the button below.

We also have spaces available for on-the-day walk-ups! Simply arrive at the performance area in Trinity Square before the start time and speak to one of our volunteers to sign up.

Polyglot Theatre’s 2024 UK tour of Pram People is supported by the Victorian Government through the Creative Victoria International Engagement program.

  • Buggies/prams are an important part of Pram People. All sizes and types are welcome!
  • Parents/carers who are wheelchair users are welcome to participate with their child on their lap. Families with children in wheelchairs are welcome to participate if you feel it is appropriate. The soundscape focuses on the experience of parents/carers with babies/toddlers and buggies/prams specifically, so it may not appeal to families with children older than 4 years in wheelchairs.
  • Adult participants (those who book in) will be given headphones to wear during the experience. The performance contains stories and prompts in English.
  • Other family members and friends are welcome to attend for free as observers, and watch the colourful spectacle unfold. Observers do not need to book a ticket.
  • Pram People will take place outdoors in daylight, on a paved surface. There will be no bright or flashing lights, although there will be amplified sound for observers.
  • Pram People celebrates the people who use buggies/prams. It is designed to be relaxed and stress-free. You can step out of the 60-minute experience at any time, and there will be a dedicated break-out space where you can take a break, feed your children or change a nappy.
  • A visual story to help your family prepare for the experience is available to view/download here.
  • Freedom Festival Arts Trust are one of the pioneer organisations in Hull’s cultural revolution.
