Acknowledgment of country

Polyglot acknowledges that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are the Traditional Custodians of the lands on which we live and create, and we pay our respects to Elders past and present. For more than 65,000 years, children and families have created and played here, and we are grateful to make our art on this country too.

Spark Child’s Play

Your generosity empowers all children: artistically, culturally, socially.

At Polyglot, children are central – as participants, agents, creators and collaborators. Our work exists to give children the agency to be in control; to play, choose their own pathways and explore within sophisticated creative frameworks.

Polyglot is globally recognised for our immersive, child-centred experiences that explode expectations of what theatre can be. Our artistic approach is one of curiosity, rigour and daring. Children are the why, the how and the who – we co-create and collaborate with children to make work that is valuable to them not just in the moment, but long into the future.

A vital, resilient company with a rich 48-year history, Polyglot’s flexibility is one of our strengths. We have always grown through intentional change, and 2026 is no exception. With Ally Harvey as Executive Director & Co-CEO joining Cat Sewell, Artistic Director & Co-CEO, at the helm, we are confident in our artistic methodology and ready to explore the theatrical possibilities that spark child’s play.

Your generosity empowers all children: artistically, culturally, socially.

Playmakers give $2-$249; Polyglot’s Circle give $250+.

  • I feel inspired and like my imagination has took me off to a new world… Because it’s just so magical and inspiring and it makes me feel like I can believe in myself and do new things and try my best. So that’s what I feel when I do theatre.

Child, on the importance of theatre

  • Everything went flying and we had the best time ever.

    Child, Whirlwind

  • I can’t believe I got to make whatever I wanted.

    Child, Paper Planet

  • My 3-year-old has asked every day since if she can go back.

    Parent, Art Tree

  • You can put all your worries away whenever you need to and come to Polyglot! …I felt like I could just be myself and do whatever I wanted, and I could make whatever I want… I could do anything my imagination would lead me to. So it was really fun, and the people who ran it inspired us to be ourselves and just be free I guess.

Child, on the importance of theatre

  • The swirls were so satisfying.

    Child, Art Tree

  • I liked the different bits and how I could do what I wanted.

    Child, Whirlwind

  • I loved how… we all just listened to the trees and how it wasn’t really us making this happen, it was like the forest getting ready for its own show.
