Acknowledgment of country

Polyglot acknowledges that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are the Traditional Custodians of the lands on which we live and create, and we pay our respects to Elders past and present. For more than 65,000 years, children and families have created and played here, and we are grateful to make our art on this country too.

My first contact with Polyglot

My first contact with Polyglot Theatre was auditioning for them when they were known as Polyglot Puppet Theatre. I was a spotty bespectacled young graduate straight out of drama school. It was in a church hall somewhere in Hawthorn in the late 80’s or early 90’s. I remember the light coming through the large windows onto the puppets lying limp on the wooden floor, and feeling excited and nervous by the daunting task of bringing these creatures to life. I didn’t get that gig; but I remember thinking I’ll be back, I will work with this company somehow, sometime.
