Ahoy La Jolla!

We Built This City got one step closer to Mexico in 2013 when we traveled to the beautiful La Jolla in San Diego.
Performing as part of the With Out Walls festival, we were surrounded by other theatre works that were also free from the shackles of a traditional theatre space.
There were roving acts, works set in the backs of cars and of course our large scale cardboard box building bonanza.
We had an amazing time during this tour, with hoards of adorable children transforming our site day after day. And as we were performing on the grounds of a university, we also had engineering and architecture students come down and put their theoretical studies to practical use.
This tour we were also lucky to have the amazing DJ Shammy Dee fill our cardboard city with infectious building beats as we bopped away in the beautiful San Diego sunshine.

Acknowledgment of country

Polyglot acknowledges that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are the Traditional Custodians of the lands on which we live and create, and we pay our respects to Elders past and present. For more than 65,000 years, children and families have created and played here, and we are grateful to make our art on this country too.
