Acknowledgment of country

Polyglot acknowledges that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are the Traditional Custodians of the lands on which we live and create, and we pay our respects to Elders past and present. For more than 65,000 years, children and families have created and played here, and we are grateful to make our art on this country too.

My Shadow Self (online)

Polyglot artists guide children through drawing, making and operating their own shadow puppet of their fantasy selves.

Artist showing shadow puppetry

In this online workshop, Polyglot artists guide children through drawing, making and operating their own shadow puppet of their fantasy selves. Children project their puppets in shadow onto the roof, walls and floor, into bookshelves and cabinets, around light fittings – a tiny shadow person exploring their world. This workshop creates a visually impressive and utterly captivating moment of play and performance.

My Shadow Self can be presented in a pre-recorded/on-demand, live, or semi-live format. Online workshops work best when participants are in separate locations (such as remote learning from home). If you are interested in an activity for students who are together in a classroom, we recommend our in-person offerings, which are delivered in line with Polyglot’s COVID-safe policy.
